Thanks, AJ. This reframe appears to be a significant improvement over the Selective Ignorance I’ve been practicing. 🤞🏼

We in Brazil have had our quota of "natural disasters". The problem is that more than 50% of the population (at least the voters) have chosen it and take "natural disasters" for blessings . In a polarized society disasters or blessings may have disturbingly different meanings.

EXTREMELY good point A.J. !!! The problem is that the majority of Americans feel pretty much powerless to exact any real influence upon our society and leaders !! The method of changing the tone of our leaders and country is at best a slow and frustrating process especially when we voted for the scoundrels in office to see to such things in a timely and moral manner !!! Truthfully our system is pretty badly broken and needs an overhaul …. Personal integrity on the part of our leaders and a little moral common sense is a must !!!

I have incorporated two strategies: First, I have convinced myself that Trump is psychologically ill and has emotional needs that rise to a disturblngly sick level. Unfortunately, it's his cult members, supporters and other enablers that continue to frustrate me. Second, I place my trust in the ancient Persian saying, "This too shall pass." Well, at least I hope!

The thought brings a brief sense of relief, which is quickly replaced by recalling what happened to the dinosaurs after a massive meteor strike. Natural disasters are beyond our control, but this situation isn’t. We can’t wait it out because the damage is so pervasive. They found a way in, so we must find a way to get them out. Become a spark so, together, we can become a flame.
